Festival Deactivation Policy

Festival Deactivation Policy

Our goal at WFCN is to provide simple, reliable, and trustworthy submissions to film festivals and creative contests for filmmakers and artists everywhere. This is only possible when filmmakers trust all festivals and contests on WFCN to act in a professional, ethical and honest fashion. Festivals that do not adhere to this standard may be barred from using WFCN, either temporarily or permanently, depending on the seriousness of the breach.

There will always be unforeseen events that may lead to deactivation, but the following are sufficient cause for deactivation: quality, fraud, false information, and discrimination.

Submitters who use WFCN expect festivals to manage their events in a professional and quality manner.

There are several ways we measure festival quality, with the most important being Reviews and Complaints.

After a festival concludes, submitters may rate the festival on a five-star scale and provide a review on the overall festival experience. These reviews are visible publicly on festival profiles and help provide transparency and accountability of festival quality. Reviews are a helpful resource for the community to learn about festivals and also for festivals to receive important feedback from submitters.

Your festival star rating is based on an average of the number of stars submitters gave you (from 1 to 5 stars).

The easiest way to keep your average rating high is to provide a high-quality festival experience and timely communication to submitters.

If your festival’s average rating falls too low or you receive consistently negative reviews, your festival may be deactivated.

We record all complaints that we receive from submitters about festivals. As a precaution, after receiving a complaint we may temporarily suspend a festival until the issue is investigated and resolved.

If we receive multiple or consistent complaints about your festival that we believe are valid, your festival will be deactivated.

Fraudulent activity undermines the trust on which WFCN is built. That’s why we are constantly on the lookout for fraud by festivals and contests that may be gaming our systems.

We will immediately and permanently deactivate any accounts associated with fraudulent activity.

False Information

WFCN is designed to give submitters accurate information about festivals, such as organizer names, venue information, photos, festival history, prizes, and what submitters can expect to experience at the festival. Any false, inaccurate, misleading or outdated information creates confusion among submitters and can diminish their experience with WFCN.

WFCN has a zero-tolerance policy for false information. If you include any false information in your festival's listing, your festival and all related accounts will be immediately and permanently banned from the site.

We do not tolerate discrimination on WFCN.

It is unacceptable to refuse to provide services based on characteristics like a person’s race, religion, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, sex, marital status, gender identity, age or any other characteristic protected under relevant law. Actions like these will result in permanent deactivation.

Compliance with the Law

We expect festivals using WFCN to act in compliance with all relevant national and local laws at all times. This includes meeting any regulatory requirements for festivals in your area.

Anyone who violates this policy may lose access to WFCN.

Reinstatement after Deactivation

If you have been deactivated for quality reasons like low star ratings, it is possible, although not guaranteed, that your festival may be reactivated on the platform after you provide proof of the steps you’ve taken to improve.

WFCN Community Guidelines:

We want WFCN to continue to be an authentic and safe place for inspiration and expression for independent filmmakers. Help us foster this community. Post, register the photos and videos, and always follow the law. Respect everyone on WFCN, and don’t spam people or post nudity / Porn photos/videos/ films.

WFCN is a reflection of independent filmmakers’ diverse community of cultures, ages, and beliefs. We’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the different points of view that create a safe and open environment for everyone.

We created the Community Guidelines so you can help us foster and protect this amazing WFCN community. By using WFCN, you agree to these guidelines. We’re committed to these guidelines and we hope you are too. Overstepping these boundaries may result in deleted content, blocking and disabling accounts, or other restrictions.

In some cases, we allow content for public awareness that would otherwise go against our Community Guidelines – if it is newsworthy and in the public interest. We do this only after weighing the public interest value against the risk of harm and we look to international human rights standards to make these judgments.

·        Share only photos and videos that you’ve taken or have the right to share.

As always, you own the content, films, and posters you post on WFCN. Remember to post authentic content, and don’t post anything you’ve copied or collected from the Internet that you don’t have the right to post.

·        Post, and register photos and videos that are appropriate for a diverse audience.

We know that there are times when people might want to share nude images, porn films o videos that are artistic or creative in nature, but for a variety of reasons, we don’t allow nudity or porn films/videos on WFCN. This includes photos, videos, films, and some digitally-created content that show sexual intercourse, genitals, and close-ups of fully-nude buttocks., but photos in the context of breastfeeding, birth giving and after-birth moments, health-related situations (for example, post-mastectomy, breast cancer awareness or gender confirmation surgery) or an act of protest are allowed.

. You don’t have to use your real name on WFCN, but we do require WFCN users to provide us with accurate and up-to-date information. Don't impersonate others and don't create accounts for the purpose of violating our guidelines or misleading others.

·       Follow the law.

WFCN is not a place to support or praise terrorism, organized crime, or hate groups. Offering sexual service, buying or selling firearms, alcohol, and tobacco products between private individuals, and buying or selling non-medical or pharmaceutical drugs are also not allowed. We also remove content that attempts to trade, co-ordinate the trade of, donate, gift, or ask for non-medical drugs, as well as content that either admits to personal use (unless in the recovery context) or coordinates or promotes the use of non-medical drugs. WFCN also prohibits the sale of live animals between private individuals, though brick-and-mortar stores may offer these sales. No one may coordinate the poaching or selling of endangered species or their parts.

Accounts promoting online gambling, online real money games of skill, or online lotteries are strictly prohibited in WFCN.

We have zero tolerance when it comes to sharing videos/films related to child porn.

·        Respect other members of the WFCN community.

We want to foster a positive, diverse community. We remove content that contains credible threats or hates speech, content that targets private individuals to degrade or shame them, personal information meant to blackmail or harass someone, and repeated unwanted messages. We do generally allow stronger conversation around people who are featured in the news or have a large public audience due to their profession or chosen activities.

It's never OK to encourage violence or attack anyone based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, disabilities, or diseases.

Serious threats of harm to the public and personal safety aren't allowed. This includes specific threats of physical harm as well as threats of theft, vandalism, and other financial harm. We carefully review reports of threats and consider many things when determining whether a threat is credible.

·        Be thoughtful when posting newsworthy events.

We understand that many filmmakers use WFCN to share important and newsworthy events. Some of these issues can involve graphic images. Because so many different people and age groups use WFCN, we may remove videos of intense, graphic violence to make sure WFCN stays appropriate for everyone.

We understand that Filmmakers often share this kind of content to condemn, raise awareness or educate. If you do share content for these reasons, we encourage you to caption your photo with a warning about graphic violence. Sharing graphic images for sadistic pleasure or to glorify violence is never allowed.

Help us keep the WFCN community strong:

·        Each of us is an important part of the WFCN community. If you see something that you think may violate our guidelines, we have a global team that reviews these reports and works as quickly as possible to remove content that doesn’t meet our guidelines.

·        You may find the content you don’t like, but doesn’t violate the WFCN Community Guidelines. If that happens, you can unfollow or block the person who posted it.
